Extension: Cookie Muncher (Chrome extension)

Summary

Cookie Muncher helps you interact with cookie consent banners on websites you visit. This policy describes what the extension does with information in plain language.

1. What we collect and where it stays

The extension stores data only on your device using Chrome extension APIs (chrome.storage):

• Your preferences: whether the extension is enabled, your cookie mode (reject all / necessary only / accept all), and whether animations are on. These may be stored in sync storage if you use Chrome sync, so your choices can follow you across signed-in Chrome profiles.
• Usage counters: a running count of how many times the extension has handled a banner for you (sync storage).
• Munch history (optional): when a banner is successfully handled, the extension may record the page URL, page title, and a timestamp locally in local storage on that installation. URLs may include path and query string as shown in the address bar. This list is shown only in the extension popup and is not transmitted to us. You can clear it anytime from the popup.

We do not operate a server that receives your browsing history, passwords, or form data from this extension.

2. What we do not do

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers inside the extension.
• We do not send the sites you visit to our company for tracking purposes.
• The extension does not load remote code; behavior comes from files bundled with the extension.

3. Permissions and why they are needed

• storage: save your settings, counts, and local history.
• Broad site access (<all_urls> / content scripts on all URLs): cookie banners appear on many different websites and often inside iframes. The extension must be able to run on the pages where those banners show so it can detect them and click the consent controls you selected. This access is used only for that purpose, not for unrelated modification of page content.

4. Video assets

Optional bundled videos play locally from the extension package as part of the click animation. They are not streamed from an external service by the extension.

5. Children

This extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Changes

We may update this policy if the extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date above will change when it does.
